Summer

Summer

Words by Aidan Makepeace, © The Makepeace Brothers.

The smile has gone from her face,
Summer is gone, she’s falling with Autumn.
I felt the cold. It crept in too quickly.
I just walked away.

I lost my joy.
Somebody’s joy was lost.
Her joy was lost,
Once again.

With the Spring, Summer might bounce back.
Small chance.
Losing touch as the seasons pass.

Don’t forget me.
I think about the cold awaiting
I’ll never forget the Summer I once took for granted.

Once, I caught a glimpse of Summer
A smile cracked down her lips.
Warmth for a moment
Only for a moment.
Then gone.
