Monkey and The Lion
Words by Ciaran Makepeace, © The Makepeace Brothers.
The monkey and the lion
Live together in this world of ours
The monkey says to lion,
“Can we share this place our home?”
I can always do it, the more you stop
Well I’m fine, I won’t be unkind
I can always do it, for all my life
I’ll give twice and be so kind
It’s about time to give my love away
It’s the right time for you to come and stay
You are alone, I feel your pain
So come back
And when you go down under
You know my arms are open
Oh come and lay beside me
We’ll think about the future on that night
And let your worries fall behind
We live in our own minds
It’s a simple way of life
Together we are at peace
But separate we are not.
I can always do it the more you stop
Well I’m fine, I won’t be unkind
I can always do it for all my life
I’ll give twice and be so kind.
It’s about time to give my love away
It’s the right time for you to come and stay.
You are alone, I feel your pain
So come back.
And when I go down under
Will your arms be wide open?
Oh, can I lay beside you
And think about the future on tonight
And let my worries fall behind?
The monkey and the lion
Live together in this world of ours.
The monkey says to lion,
“Yes we’ll share this place our home.”
I can always do it, the more you stop
Well I’m fine, I’ll be so kind
